You can view and copy the source of this page: <strong>BioJava</strong> was born as a sister project of [http://bioperl.net Bioperl] in MRC Cambridge, 1995.&nbsp; When Java language&nbsp;was becoming popular, a few bioperl&nbsp;people&nbsp;started BioJava project in 1995. And at the same time, they started&nbsp;coining various Bio[.+]&nbsp;projects terms and hoped and predicted that&nbsp;they will become widely&nbsp;used in&nbsp;the future.&nbsp;Apart from participating in OMG(object managemen group, Astrid Reinhardt and Jong Bhak)&nbsp;meeting in London and introducing&nbsp;the idea of biojava for biology, there was not much progress afterwards.
